Bang! Howdy.
Guess what! I found yet another strategic online game. It's in open beta right now. Despite the strange name and fatboy's assumptions, the game is not made by koreans. It's developed by Three Rings, a company residing in sunny California.
The game is, like the webpage says, "fast paced tactical strategy fun in a wacky Wild West world." That description is actually very accurate.
In the game, the first thing you get to do is to make your avatar and choose your "Big Shots". In the starting town you get to choose Calvary, Tactician and Old Godger as your big shots. According to the website, you get more units, scenarios and items when advance to the next town. There are five towns total. But then again, this is open beta, so the towns might not be done yet... I don't know. I don't even know how to go the next town because I just started playing.
In the starting town, called Frontier Town you can play three different scenarios. Claim jumping, cattle herding and gold rushing. In claim jumping you have to take this gold lumps into your claim and you can also steal them by shooting the guy who is carrying them or then straight from the mine. Gold rush is the same thing, except in gold rush you can't steal from the opponent's mine. Fatboy said that's screwed up since you usually mine the gold from the mine and not other way around. Whatever. He plays only those boring RPGs which are all alike. And then tells me about them and I couldn't care less.
Cattle herding is just like that. It's like tag, except with cows. And only cavalry can tag, the other guys just shoot each other. In all scenarios the clock is ticking and when it ends the best man or woman with most points wins. Winning means scrip, you know, money. But! Even the loser gets money, although a forum post indicates that not all people get it.
In any case, the game is okay. You can buy stuff which you need to activate more units, buy cards (think of spells) or buy your avatar clothes. Very expensive clothes. I don't get the clothing part, I'd rather buy cards or train my units, but apparently the many female players (or guys playing with female avatars) dig it. I blame Barbie.
Talking about females or female wanna-bes, they totally own in this game. I have won most of my matches but always lose to a girl. Weird.
